Banda continued in Butwal for the fourth consecutive day after constitution amendment bill proposed splitting Tarai and hill districts from province no. 5.

Annoyed Butwal residents took to street demanding cancellation of the bill that splits the province. CPN-UML affiliated student wing ANNFSU, NC affiliated NSU, Madan Bhandari Sports Academy, among other pressure groups, staged demonstration at various choks in the city.

Vehicular movement has come to grinding halt in the area due to the banda. Likewise, market places and industries have been shut down.

The amendment bill that proposes placing Palpa into province 4 by removing it from province 5 has aggravated Palpa residents.

Political parties from Palpa, Palpa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, youths and students have announced indefinite general strike in Palpa.

The banda has crippled life in Palpa. Vehicular movement along roads leading to Siddhartha Highway, Arghakhanchi and Gulmi has been stopped. Palpalis are conducting rally in the area since early morning.

Gulmi residents have also expressed their dissatisfaction with the constitution amendment bill that aims at separating hill and Tarai districts in province 5.

The indefinite Gulmi banda entered 4th day on Saturday. The protests are growing stronger with market places remaining shut and locals chanting slogans against the split.

Normal life has been affected after short or long route vehicles are not allowed to operate in the district. Leaders spearheading the protests are confiscating keys of motorcycles.
